Hello Alice knows the coronavirus pandemic will have far-reaching impacts on the small business community for months to come. That’s why, as part of our COVID-19 Business Resource Center, we’re gathering as many resources as we can to keep you informed and supported throughout this pandemic.

The below list represents an ever-growing collection of national and international initiatives; you can see a separate list of state and local options here. We’ll update each page on a daily basis with resources gathered both from trusted authorities and partners across the business ecosystem stepping up to support small business owners. This federal guidance provides recommendations on the cleaning and disinfection of rooms and areas to prevent the transmission of COVID-19. It is aimed at limiting the survival of novel coronavirus in key environments. Keep tabs on this list — recommendations will be updated if additional information becomes available.

CDC Interim Guidance for Businesses and Employers | Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Disaster Assistance Loans for COVID-19 Impacted Businesses | Small Business Administration

The United States Small Business Administration is offering designated states and territories low-interest federal disaster loans for working capital to small businesses suffering substantial economic injury as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19). These loans offer up to $2 million in assistance for a small business.

Disaster Response Registry | System for Award Management

When national emergencies or disasters such as floods and hurricanes occur, supplies and services need to be procured and rushed to the affected area quickly. To expedite this process, the System for Award Management (SAM) contains a Disaster Response Registry listing those contractors who are willing to provide debris removal, distribution of supplies, reconstruction, and other disaster or emergency relief supplies or services. Business owners can list their company in the registry by registering in SAM.

Disaster Unemployment Assistance | United States Department of Labor

Are you an artist, entrepreneur, freelancer, service employee, or other occupation interrupted by the COVID-19 outbreak? The Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) program provides unemployment benefits to individuals — including the self-employed — who have become unemployed as a direct result of a presidentially declared major disaster. In order to qualify for this benefit your employment or self-employment must have been lost or interrupted as a direct result of a major disaster declared by the President of the United States.

IRS Coronavirus Tax Relief | Internal Revenue Service

The IRS has established a special section focused on steps to help taxpayers, businesses, and others affected by the coronavirus. This page will be updated as new information is available.

SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans | Small Business Administration

If you have suffered substantial economic injury and are one of the following types of businesses located in a declared disaster area, you may be eligible for an SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL): small business; small agricultural cooperative; and most private nonprofit organizations. Substantial economic injury means the business is unable to meet its obligations and to pay its ordinary and necessary operating expenses. EIDLs provide the necessary working capital to help small businesses survive until normal operations resume after a disaster. The SBA can provide up to $2 million to help meet financial obligations and operating expenses that could have been met had the disaster not occurred. Your loan amount will be based on your actual economic injury and your company’s financial needs, regardless of whether the business suffered any property damage.

The Paycheck Protection Program is a loan designed to provide a direct incentive for small businesses to keep their workers on the payroll. SBA will forgive loans if all employees are kept on the payroll for eight weeks and the money is used for payroll, rent, mortgage interest, or utilities. The Soze Agency is a worker-owned organization that creates social impact campaigns about compassion, authenticity, and equity. They will be awarding $250-750 in grants to selected applicants on an ongoing basis, with $50,000 allocated for the first round of grants.

Opportunity Fund provides loans to low- and moderate-income immigrants, women, and other deserving, but underserved small business owners. Coronavirus Care Fund | National Domestic Workers Alliance

For many in-home care workers, nannies, and house cleaners the threat of coronavirus is especially severe. Without access to healthcare, paid sick leave, or job security, they are being forced to navigate this crisis alone — without a safety net. The money you donate to the Coronavirus Care Fund will provide immediate financial support for domestic workers, and enable them to stay home and healthy — protecting themselves, their families, and their communities while slowing the spread of the coronavirus.

Coronavirus Crisis Loans | Wefunder

Based on the latest research, it is likely that cities across America will be in periodic lockdown over the next 18 months, until a vaccine is in mass production. Local businesses will be hit hard. Wefunder has funded approximately $130 million in hundreds of small businesses from over 400,000 investors. If your business has customers who care, they can help. Typically, half of the funds come from your own customer base, with the other half from the Wefunder investor base. Wefunder does all the work of collecting funds and sends you one wire when it’s over. For this crisis, they’ve designed a revenue share agreement that is very small business friendly. In these hard times, they expect customers will support businesses they care about with flexible repayment.

COVID-19 Response and Support for Local Businesses | Yelp

Yelp is offering $25 million in relief, primarily focused on supporting independent local restaurant and nightlife businesses, in the form of waived advertising fees, and free advertising, products, and services. As part of this relief effort, restaurants and nightlife businesses that remain open will receive free access to Yelp page upgrades, including Business Highlights and Call To Action, as well as Connect, which will help them communicate timely information to their customers. Restaurants will also receive three months of free access to Yelp Reservations and Waitlist. For restaurant clients that offer delivery and/or takeout, they will provide $100 in free search advertising. More details on their restaurant and nightlife business relief program will be available as they are developed.

COVID-19 Small Business Grant | Bumble

Small businesses are in a tough position due to COVID-19, and Bumble wants to help as much as they possibly can. Until April 5, small business owners can submit a request to receive up to $5,000 in monetary support from Bumble. To apply, head to the Bumble app and match with the Bumble Community Grants profile from any mode. Not a small business owner, but still want to help? You can nominate a small business using the same application, or tag them in the comments on the linked Instagram post.

Your business may be experiencing disruptions resulting from the global outbreak of COVID-19. Facebook has heard that a little financial support can go a long way, so they’re offering $100 million in cash grants and ad credits to help during this challenging time. This offer will be extended to 30,000 eligible small businesses in over 30 countries where they operate. More details will be shared as they become available. Financial Resources for Businesses Impacted By COVID-19 | Homebase

The COVID-19 outbreak continues to prompt many people to follow social distancing recommendations. While this is the right thing to do to combat the virus, small businesses have been heavily impacted by the pandemic and rely on customers visiting their brick-and-mortar locations to stay afloat. Homebase has created a webpage of financial and workforce resources for small businesses impacted by the pandemic.

The Food and Beverage Industry Relief Fund | James Beard Foundation

The James Beard Foundation recognizes the dire situation the food and beverage community is in due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Restaurants, bars, and other independent food and beverage operations are strong economic drivers. $1 trillion generated by the culinary industry reflects 4% of our gross domestic product. The food and beverage community employs nearly 16% of the American workforce. These businesses support local economies, and according to some studies, restaurants pump as much as 60% of their money back into their local business communities. To help bring swift economic relief to these essential businesses, the Foundation is launching a fund that will be gathering support from corporate, foundation, and individual donors to provide micro-grants to independent food and beverage businesses in need.

Fountainhead SBA Paycheck Protection Program | Fountainhead

Fountainhead is one of only 14 non-bank lenders licensed to make SBA 7(a) loans from the Paycheck Protection Program. This program is a loan designed to provide a direct incentive for small businesses to keep their workers on the payroll during the crisis. SBA will forgive loans if all employees are kept on the payroll for eight weeks and the money is used for payroll, rent, mortgage interest, or utilities.

Freelancers Relief Fund | Freelancers Union

Freelancers work without traditional protections such as paid sick leave and unemployment insurance, and are at a disproportionate risk of financial hardship in the best of times. At the same time, they make up one-third of the U.S. workforce, and contribute more than $1 trillion to the country’s GDP. Freelancers Relief Fund will offer financial assistance of up to $1,000 per freelance household to cover lost income and essential expenses not covered by government relief programs. 100% of all donations will be distributed directly to freelancers in need. Applications for funding will open on April 2, 2020.

Gift Certificates to Support Small Businesses | Kabbage

With the current impacts to our economy, Kabbage wants to make sure there are ways to help local entrepreneurs. Through Kabbage Payments, any business can sign up to sell gift certificates online, and anyone can purchase them to support participating small businesses. Consumers interested in supporting small businesses can search for gift certificates by industry and location. They can purchase certificates for any amount from $15 to $500. Certificates can be redeemed at any time and have no expiration date. Revenue generated from the sale of gift certificates will be deposited as soon as the next business day after purchase.

Grow with Google Small Business Fund | Google and Opportunity Finance Network

Local businesses are facing unprecedented challenges as they navigate COVID-19. Opportunity Finance Network (OFN) is working with Google to launch the Grow with Google Small Business Fund. The $125 million fund will deliver responsible financing to community development financial institutions (CDFIs) to help thousands of small businesses hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Guidance on Small Business Preparedness | United States Chamber of Commerce Foundation

To minimize the impact of disasters on employees, property, and operations, businesses must make the right preparations. These include: creating a disaster plan, identifying priorities, training employees on emergency preparedness, and reviewing the business’ insurance coverage. The United States Chamber of Commerce foundation has compiled resources to help prepare for disasters and organize your response.

The Bay Area’s small businesses have been hard-hit by COVID-19. ICA’s companies employ more than 500 people, and ICA is determined to help them. Whether it’s your favorite neighborhood coffee shop, your best friend who owns a storefront or a local grower you support at the farmer’s market, millions of American businesses will be disrupted when employees and customers must stay home and supply chains break down. To help small businesses affected by the pandemic, Kiva has created temporary policies for founders looking for financial relief.

Lantern Credit for PPP Loans | SoFi

Major banks are overwhelmed by the demand they are seeing for the PPP program and are struggling to fund loans quickly. Even business owners who have primary banking relationships with PPP lenders are having trouble accessing the program, and in some cases SBA partner banks are facing capital constraints. With SoFi’s Lantern marketplace, businesses will be matched to a qualified lender based on capacity, which may increase the likelihood of timely funding. Through Lantern, consumers have access to hundreds of SBA-approved funding banks through a single application process. SoFi, via Lantern and its lending partners, will help streamline the application process to make it as seamless as possible for your small business to apply for the funding it needs.
